Depending on who you ask, the causes include trial lawyers, pharmaceutical companies, etc. An article in The New York Times suggested that doctors’ wages are also a factor Maybe most thought provoking is that doctors are paid the same whether they are good or bad. Specialists make money based on the number of procedures they perform, regardless if their patient needs it.

Although he considers himself a Republican, he gave his highest praise to President BIll Clinton who was always focused on long-term economic growth. Greenspan considers George W. Bush as a man more driven by short term political gains than the last effects of his economic policies.
