Denali Fitness in Interbay opened its doors on May 12. It was a very exciting day but almost anti-climatic in some ways. We worked so hard to open our doors but without a lot of fanfare. I think we have the nicest gym in Seattle and I challenge anyone to find a better one. Now it’s time to start focusing on marketing to bring in customers. We’re hosting an open house in a few hours, so hopefully that will generate a lot of buzz. It’s hard to bring in members without stooping to the level of most gyms where the sales force are lot like used car salesmen. Hopefully prospective members will recognize and appreciate the difference in how we run our clubs–otherwise the gyms with their high pressure sales tactics win.
On a side note, I’m amazed at how many health clubs are pushing supplements. They’re only pushing them because their a high margin product, not because their customers really need them.
