I finally went to New York City earlier this month when I visited Eugene for a long weekend. Eugene was an amazing host and I crammed more into those three days than any other trip I’ve ever taken (except maybe the Sydney Olympics).
I took the redeye out of Seattle on Thursday night. The first day we visited the Statue of LIberty, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, and ate at a famous pizza place (I can’t remember the name.). That night we saw Cat Power in concert. I had never heard of her before but she’s great–although she has issues with live performances. We were seated in the 6th row and we all thought she looked pretty hot, but you’d never guess it from her photos on the web.
Saturday morning we hit the Big Apple Barbecue and had some delicious barbecue. (I must say that the lines to get food were long like the city is big. From there we rushed to Yankee Stadium to watch the Yankee – A’s game. Yankee Stadium is somewhat non-descript but it has the history and now I can say I’ve been there. That evening we had our fine dining experience at Megu. We went for the Omikasa and had some amazing dishes including 2 with Kobe beef and 3 with foie gras–including one with both! And just like the city, the bill was really, really big. I think I’ve only had one other meal with a bigger bill and that was with 6 diners, not 2. Heck, the meal cost more than my plane ticket! That said, it was well worth it if you can afford it.
On my last day, we visited the Museum of Modern Art. We followed that with a Broadway show, The Drowsy Chaperone. It was an enjoyable musical that made me realize I need to see more shows.
It was a fantastic trip and I’ve left out a lot of details but I wanted to put it down in writing to help me remember it.

I also got a new phone, the Samsung A900, through Sprint. The volume on my old phone had gotten so bad that I couldn’t hear the other person half the time.
Another reason why baggy pants are stupid. When baggy pants came out, I realized I was an adult because I just didn’t understand why kids were wearing them.
