NBA Penalties

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

So the penalties have been handed by NBA Commissioner, David Stern. I actually thought that Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O’Neal deserved longer suspensions. While the fan that threw the first beverage definitely deserved some punishment, Ron Artest should not have gone into the stands. Professional athletes are paid a lot of money and with that comes a little grief from fans.
The Players Association is appealing Artest’s, Jackson’s and O’Neal’s suspensions. While its mission is to defend and support the players, I think it’s a mistake to appeal this one. The actions of those three is indefensible and just weakens the Players Association’s position in future disputes.
This is also another reason that I’m sick of most professional sports. There’s just too much attitude. The one exception seems to be Major League Baseball–but I think that has to do with the fact that any player getting too cocky will end up with a pitch in their ear.

People walk into my building through the 1st Ave entrance on the 1st floor and ride the elevator up to the 2nd Ave entrance on the 4th floor rather than walk up the hill. How lazy can you get!?!?

And the American people have spoken. I just don’t like what they had to say. I’m really not looking forward to the next four years. Maybe I’ll move to Whistler and get a job as a lift operator…
Here’s a new map of North America.
