iPhone 2.0.1

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

I’m still loving my iPhone and recently installed software version 2.0.1. I’m still experiencing issues with some applications just closing out and going back to the iPhone menu–not sure if it’s an operating system or application issue.
I had problems with visual voicemail not working with my Audi’s Bluetooth system but I haven’t tried again since upgrading.
Free applications I like:
Facebook
NYTimes
Urbanspoon
LocalPicks

iPhone

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Just picked up the new iPhone today. I bought the 8GB model. Unfortunately, I can’t complete activation because iTunes is having problems globally.
I bought mine at an AT&T store, guessing that most diehards would go to the Apple store. I got in line at 5am and I was the 8th person in line.

Holy Bulging Capacitors!

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Last month my computer started turning itself off or not even turning on. Before that I had experienced a strange phenomenon where my cursor would move to the corners of my screen by itself. Well it turns out that I’m a victim of bulging capacitors which is an industry wide problem. Luckily mine iMac was covered under an Apple repair extension program at no cost to me.
I dropped my computer off at the Apple Store on a Saturday afternoon and they told me it might be 2-3 days before it was ready. While I was worried about how far I would get behind on work, I was actually excited about how much other work I would get done (e.g. organizing my desk and life). Alas, I got a call that evening that my computer was ready and I picked it up that night to avoid weekend traffic at the mall on Sunday.

New toys

I finally joined the iPod generations with a 60GB Video iPod. I look forward to playing video one the cardio equipment at Denali Fitness.
I also got a new phone, the Samsung A900, through Sprint. The volume on my old phone had gotten so bad that I couldn’t hear the other person half the time.
Another reason why baggy pants are stupid. When baggy pants came out, I realized I was an adult because I just didn’t understand why kids were wearing them.

Comment Spam

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

I was working on fixing my comment section–visitors couldn’t leave comments–when I came across Cero Spam. The problem with allowing comments is that you get comment spam. It got to the point where I would have to delete 30+ comments at a time. Cero uses the Captcha method. Let me know what you think.

Damn software

It’s 4am and I finally finished upgrading my blogging software. Damn comment spammers drove me to upgrade and I ran into several problems.

iMac

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2004

My new 20″ iMac arrived on Friday–it’s a beautiful machine. I only had time to set it up before some friends came over to watch the extended edition of Return of the King. After they left around midnight, I started trying to transfer my pc Outlook .pst file to the Mac. To my horror, I discovered that there was no built-in import functionality. Considering all the gym emails I had sent and received, I had to figure out a way to transfer them.
I started to use the Mozilla Thunderbird email client as an intermediate step but things didn’t look quite right. And this method still didn’t solve the problem of how to transfer my over 1000 contacts. So I decided to try Outlook2Mac. It was only $10 so I figured it was worth the risk–the money didn’t worry me as much as the concern that i might not work. Well it did work and I wish I had tried it first, would have saved me a few hours.
