I hear a lot of discussion–or maybe rhetoric–about what’s best for small business and ultimately the economy. Republicans insist that small businesses need tax cuts and those cuts will enable us to hire more employees and ultimately save the economy. I wonder how many of those Republican Congressman actually own small businesses? As a small business owner, I don’t need a tax cut. It would be nice but it’s not what I need nor what other small business owners I know need right now. We need our customers to not lose their jobs. I and other small business owners–in retail–are seeing our revenues decline as our customers are losing their jobs. Tax cuts won’t help businesses that are losing money because their customers can no longer afford their products or services. If you’re losing money, a tax cut doesn’t help at all.
